Polar Bear

Tagging polar bear in north Greenland

In March-April 2010 satellite transmitters
were placed on a total of 20 polar bears
between Uummannaq and Qimusseriarsuaq/
Melville Bay. In all, 29 polar bears were tagged.
This is the first part of a two-year study,
where the plan is to work together with the
Canadians to count the polar bear population in
Baffin Bay.
The study is funded by the Danish
environmental Protection Agency and
the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources.
